12/29/2023 0 Comments Wuala storageWhile competing cloud storage services could read files due to employee wrongdoing or court order, files stored on Wuala are solely accessible by the user or administrator. Files are encrypted before they are sent to the cloud so no one, not even a LaCie employee, could access them. Furthermore, the intuitive browser-based LaCie Rescue utility allows the administrator to install the OS on a diskless chassis or easily recover from a system failure using the included USB key.ĭata stored on Wuala is protected by industry-best security. SimplyRAID also lets users get improved available storage compared to traditional RAID solutions when using disks of different sizes. This way, it's possible to benefit from RAID security and performance, with zero understanding of RAID. Behind the scenes, it chooses the fastest and most secure RAID mode according to the number of disks. In addition to industry-standard RAID modes (5, 5+spare, 1**, or 0), the LaCie 5big NAS Pro ships with SimplyRAID, which makes RAID management easy. Administrators can also easily manage users and groups in two mouse clicks. This means wherever the user is or whatever the device (computer or mobile), they can access data quickly from one convenient interface. The LaCie 5big, with NAS OS 3 and integrated Wuala, features network-attached and cloud storage in a single view. As a result, the company is uniquely positioned to deliver a seamless hybrid cloud solution. LaCie is the only external storage company that owns its cloud storage, Wuala. This performance-driven combination accelerates file sharing, remote access, and backups for small businesses. Powered by a dual-core 2.13GHz Intel 64-bit Atom™ processor and 4GB RAM, it also features dual LAN and link aggregation for optimized network speeds. With transfer speeds up to 200MB/s*, the LaCie 5big NAS Pro boosts business productivity. Plus, data stays secure thanks to novice-friendly SimplyRAID and client-side cloud encryption. Thanks to hybrid cloud technology, the LaCie 5big NAS Pro lets employees collaborate easily using a single interface for both network/cloud storage and remote access. So all in all, I think it's worth to look at, even if I have to agree that the interface could be improved and dropbox is a lot simpler.Today LaCie announced the 5big NAS Pro, its latest high-performance 5-bay network-attached storage solution powered by Intel®. And then, many LaCie Harddiscs offer promotion codes which give you free extra storage. Besides Syncing, Wuala also offers the possibility to backup folders. Their servers are in switzerland and france, so they are not under the us "patriot act", which is important especially in europa, because basically it is illegal to put any privat data from other people (clients, friends.) on a server where the US government could spy at if they like in most european countries.Īlso, you can sync any folder you like at any location, not only a Dropbox folder. Wuala claims they could not decrypt, well, there is no proof this is true but it should be safer than Dropbox. Wuala encrypts on the client, and Wuala has no key - so it's a lot safer. I agree that Dropbox is easier to use, but Data is only encrypted on Dropbox Servers and Dropbox has the key, so they can decrypt it if they like. To "sync", just press on "New", choose Sync and choose a Wuala and a Local Folder to sync. I have to admit I never looked in the manual. I have to offset "normbs" 1/2 star rating a little.
